I’ve been taking pictures since the late 1970’s, first as “snaps” and later in high school, as a “working photographer” for the school newspaper and yearbook. I studied videography, photography, and design in college, and although my career didn’t take me down the path of a professional cameraman nor a photographer, imaging has played an important part in my professional career and personal development.
I’ve won awards for some of my photos, had shots used for the covers of books and in magazine articles, and because of choosing to license my photos through Creative Commons, seen numerous pieces appear on websites, blogs, and other pages on the Web. A major reason I shifted from a DSLR to mirrorless in the late 2000s was the ability to collect, adapt and use vintage lenses. One of the earliest non-Nikon lenses I picked up at that time was a Contax 45mm G-series autofocus rangefinder lens. At the time I knew that…
The camera and lens combination for this experiential review is my Sony A6500 mated to a Nikon AF-S DX 17-55mm f/2.8 IF-ED zoom lens adapted via a Fotodiox Pro Fusion mk II Nikon F to Sony E autofocus adapter. In this configuration, my A6500 was set up with in-body image…
